 My Big Fat Boston Wedding!  New England boasts some of the freshest and most beautiful blooms you could ever lay eyes on...and for good reason!  With the bride and groom in tow, we traveled a mere 30 minutes from home base to find these luscious luxuries.  Assemblying all in their basement (turned flower design studio within three days), this big fat Boston wedding, logistical challenges and all, turned out to be one of my most prized memories.  I hear the bride feels the same way.  *sigh.

 When Lindsay Russ {Hamilton} mom called and asked me for some help with her daughter's special day I jumped at the chance!  You see, Lindsay is the owner and uber talented designer of Bird Cage Designs and her sister channels the same creativity with her fabulous jewelry designs at Shop Girls ~ not to mention we had a stash of stuff to pull from Mary Carol of Nell Hill's ~ so I knew I would be in the presence of greatness and really get to go nuts building some raw rustic tablescapes that would WOW!  ...and I was right.  For centerpieces: Tall glass Urn vases were filled with green apples and some turned upside down to mimic garden cloche atop moss bases sporting lotus pod groupings, 4' tall lanterns from Nell were filled with glass cylinders layered with moss, pods and live ferns flanked with soft huck and branches, traditional garden planters were layered with hydrangea, grapevine wreaths and topped with bark and bird nests.  The Aisle:  lined with wooden lanterns stuffed with crabapples, chairs tied with burlap and raffia.  The bouquets:  ranunculus, lisianthus, scabiosa pods, and veronica to name a few.  If asked to do it all over again...my answer is YES YES YES...a thousand times YES!

Ahhh the fabulous Fall.  Crisp and perfect weather for outdoor weddings and receptions in open barns with tons of charm.  Boutonnieres were filled with rosemary, lavender, fiddlehead and hydrangea blooms while the bride carried a textural mix of sunflowers, spray roses, berzilia berries, seeded eucalyptus, tulips, lavender and rosemary and topped off with Gloriosa lily for a punch of a hot pink twist.  Sewing machine drawers were rePurposed as vessels to hold tiny bouquets wrapped with satin ribbon while weathered terra cotta pots boasted live moss and small fuzzy ferns.  But the sweetest touch was by far a tiny locket onthe bride's bouquet in remembrance of her loving mother.

Summer sweetness is for me garden roses and sage hydrangea kissed with bupleurum.  Centerpieces were layers of vintage plates, vases and bowls accented with darling nectarines. Mason jars were hung from the rafters and flanked the railings holding candles while vintage drinking glasses harnessed garden cuttings.  The favor:  Peaches fresh from the farm holding my hand made flags stating that 'Love is Sweet'...and it is.
